Moving & Storage

We have used first class several time to help us move and store items. They have always done a good job and offered clear communication as to what to expect during the process! We will be using them again in the future.

Lots of promises, Lots of lies...

I contacted several movers; Chris was the only one that came to our home for an in person estimate. We walked the property and he seemed personable and gave us a quote. Unknown to me, this was a RED FLAG. Yeah, we can do this, we can do that, no problem. I've been doing this for so many years. WRONG!

The day before he called us to CONFIRM, he had previously stated they could be at our home at 7am.

Fast forward to moving day, guess what, their TRUCK BROKE DOWN! They had to rent a truck and arrived at 915 am! We were selling our home and moving, time was wasted. One of them had me initial and sign some forms without explaining. I was sick to my stomach because I made the wrong choice.

As soon as they pulled up, I knew the TRUCK WAS TOO SMALL. They only have one truck, and they claim to be a moving company? Guess what, the truck was too small, and they DIDN'T WANT TO LOAD EVERYTHING. After a heated discussion with Chris, they loaded the rest. He stated they can attach a trailer to their truck and couldn't with the rental truck. You called me to confirm my move and your truck has broken down? You didn't realize until the day of the move? RED FLAG.

I think they are going to try and charge me double for the move, it ain't gonna happen. Update tomorrow. Photos will follow.

Delivery day came and Chris stated the price was now going to be $1725 whether they are there 2 hours or 4 hours, from the original $1225 plus one day in storage at $150 = $1375. Why the $350 difference?

An IMPORTANT NOTE is they only take CASH or CERTIFIED CHECK, if you read the reviews, the reason is if you used a debit or credit card, you could contest the payment. They make you use cash so it's impossible to get any money back for damaging your goods.

So, they unpacked the truck and broke the glass on a Clock, as we unpacked a Cricut lamp was damaged and will not work.

This so-called expert underestimated the load and tried to blame me in the end. We requested the price breakdown, but the invoice just had a total.

FYI, I had both cars loaded to the max and Chris wanted to me go buy more boxes for the things that didn't fit into the truck, they do not sell boxes for the things he didn't have room for. He stated they did not get enough blankets to protect my shipment. Professional?

I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR MOVE. I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO THINK TWICE ABOUT THIS COMPANY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

P.S. They do not respond to the BBB or written letters.

Great service

I moved items from a storage unit to my new house. Chris and his moving crew did a great job today. They were very efficient in putting all the boxes, containers and furniture in the correct places. Their prices a very reasonable and I would recommend First Class Moving and Storage in the future.

SPARE YOUR MONEY

0 stars if I could. Chris has been THE worst to work with. He knew we were on a second floor moving to another second floor and gave me a quote of $450 with two guys. Our movers arrived 15 minutes late (no problem) but with alcoholic beverages in their cup holders. They took many smoke breaks and took their time loading the truck. Granted stairs can be a lot. I get it. Upon getting to our destination, they took an extra 30 minutes because they had to go home to use the restroom. With the trailer full of our belongings. We did not feel comfortable with this. They returned to us and finally started unloading. They offered to knock 15 minutes off our time because of their delay. Halfway through the unloading, only one guy was coming up and down. The other refused to do any more stairs. They were upset because their boss, Chris Rogers, only sends two men when it was supposed to be 3. Hence why they were exhausted. They broke two items and got in contact with Chris who said to send him an estimate for my items to send to insurance. I did that same day. I have given it now a month and a half with continuous check ins with no response. After seeing reviews, I now understand I am foolish for thinking he will actually replace it or even try to make the moment right. Best part of it all, since it was only two guys, it took 2.5 hours longer than originally quoted which means we paid $860 for this terrible service. I work in property management and they had dropped off their flyers to our office. I feel bad for even recommending them to my residents. GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE

Terrible movers

Do not use the damaged all my furniture. I tried posting more than two pictures but won’t let me. Contact me if you want more information and photos. Chris is a liar he said he would compensate me for pictures in French is a destroyed and I did not. I put my stuff in storage and wait six months to my van. Then they told me it was too late. Do not use them

Misleading Quote, increased charges.

I’m only giving this company one star because no stars is not an option. I got an estimate, added on 200 cubic feet for possible overages, and when they came to pick up my items they charged me over double. I even left behind several of the larger items and they still charged thousands more than the estimate. None of my furniture is oversized. When I spoke with “customer service” they were rude and refused to adjust the amount. I was told that they had their own trucks, but they showed up in a rental enterprise truck. They said that I would have the opportunity to see for myself that my items took the amount of space they claimed, but I did not. The final contract that I signed, under duress, was for $350 less total than they later invoiced me. They now say that I am responsible for their mathematical error. This entire move has been an expensive nightmare.

Long-distance move from Stratford, CT to Little Rock, AR

First class moving and storage, Raleigh, NC (US DOT:1819020).

I hired this company (US DOT:1819020 & MC:660285) for my moving needs from CT to AR. I cannot express in words how terrible, bad and stressful this move was. Here are some of the reasons-
1.I paid for full packing service(included packing, unpacking, disassembly/assembly of furniture) but on the day of your move, I realized the guys who come to do the job has NO CLUE how to do their job.
2.The agent who makes you sign the contract DOES NOT EVER come in to picture again once contract is signed.
3.Initial estimate price from what I signed in the initial contract gets DOUBLED up by the time they pick up and deliver your goods.
4.Both days of moving (pickup and deliver days) were extremely stressful because workers were very rude, demands more money just to do their already paid job, if not they threaten you that they will not unload your goods.
5.Customer care representatives through out the move were completely unreliable, gives you false information, demand complete upfront payment irrespective of what was agreed upon at the time of signing the contract.
6.It took almost a MONTH to deliver when I was told that "average" delivery time would be in a week.My pregnant wife suffered greatly with so much delay in delivering our goods. It took toll both physically and mentally on both of us.
7.PLEASE PLEASE read the contract thoroughly, unfortunately I took their words and did not read the "small print" in the contract and realized later that words from the company agents and the contract are completely different!
8.Some of the furniture was damaged and some of the goods got lost. Unfortunately I did not take additional insurance based on my great experience with other moving companies in my past. With the basic coverage they provide, I did not even bother to file claim as the reimbursement will be in no where close to the cost of damaged/lost goods.
9.They charged additional hundred of dollars claiming that they have bring a small truck to pick up and additional hundreds for stairs at delivery place (despite providing the info to the agent prior to pick up)
10. Bottom line, based on my extremely stressful experience with this company, I would never ever recommend this company to my family or friends.

Local move

If I could give negative stars, I would. This company is a joke. We were quoted 3 movers, they showed up with 4, & charged us for the extra man, stating "it will balance out because the move will go quicker." Too bad they spent a lot of time standing around. They moved everything to storage & reassured us we didn't need to go to the storage facility because they would handle it all. If we would've known "handling it" meant breaking furniture & shredding boxes, we would have gone to supervise. When we had our furniture delivered we found several pieces broken & literally had foot prints on them, who was standing on my bookcase?! We were also missing a box & 6 chairs, which they kindly delivered THREE weeks later. We filed a claim for all the damages & had to follow up for more than 2 months. Once we finally received the check it was a measly amount, stating we should have gotten the extra insurance. I didn't realize we needed extra insurance for them to handle our stuff with care.

Exactly what we needed

We moved back in December and holidays got me too busy to leave a review. I have nothing but respect for movers. I was a bit shocked that the brought a trailer instead of a truck, but either way we got our move done in 8 hours. ( We used them for 11 because we had moved and done an inspection on our property in the same day) it took about 4 hours to pack and load our 2 bedroom apartment, then an 40 minutes to load our storage unit that was 15 miles from our property. And finally another 3 hours to unload. While this may seem like an inconvenience to some, moving is stressful enough and I didn't life a finger. The movers were fast, precise, and very efficient. They moved and wrapped all big furniture AND moved my upright piano :) Chris is the owner, he was great and easy to communicate with. Would 10/10 use again. Thanks First Class!
